Perfect for teens and college students! Loft bed plans showing how to build an extra-long (XL) twin-size extra-tall loft. This 20+ page comprehensive plan explains how to select lumber, cut, sand, drill, apply finish and assemble a beautiful wooden loft bed that is as solid and sturdy as those built by Bunk Beds Unlimited. It comes with a store-ready quick shopping list so that you can head right out and purchase the materials you need to get started. This plan makes use of widely available off-the-shelf lumber and materials. You can build it even if you have little or no woodworking experience using a circular saw, an electric drill, a power sander and a few hand tools. It is a great first woodworking project or family project. This loft raises the bed freeing up enough large amount of floor space. It has enough clearance for an average adult to be seated at a desk and other uses, like shelves or a chest of drawers to be placed underneath. It works well in a room with 8 foot ceilings. If used as a bunk bed, it gives additional headspace to the bottom bed over our standard height bunk bed plans. The loft uses an XL (extra-long) twin-size mattress. The loft bed measures 75 inches tall, by 42" wide, by 88" long with 58 inches clearance below (if used as a loft) and can easily accommodate adult weight. The finished bed will stand up to daily use for many years and continue to look nice. Many of the beds we have manufactured have been in daily use in hotels, camps, shelters and other institutions for 15 years or more, supporting adult weight and still look great. The hardware kit has all hardware needed to complete the entire loft bed (or make it a bunk if desired), including all screws and black plated hardened steel furniture lags that give the bed a professional appearance. Our hardware kits are higher quality and a better price than comparable hardware from hardware stores and home centers. (*Please note that the lumber is not included in the hardware kit.*)
